Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft. It is the 11th major installment, and 21st overall, in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins. Set in the year 431 BC, the plot tells a fictional history of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. Players control a male or female mercenary who fights for both sides as they attempt to unite their family.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a very demanding game. Even with a 2080 Ti, AC Odyssey puts a serious strain on your GPU. The best average we achieved in 1080p was when paired with the 9700K. Our Strix 2080 Ti averaged 75 frames per second on the 9900K. When paired with the I7 9700K, The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 79 FPS in AC Odyssey.

In 1440p, our Strix 2080 Ti did better when paired with the 9700K. The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 73 frames per second on the 9700K system with a max frame rate of 135 FPS and a minimum of 33 FPS. On the 9900K system. the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 67 FPS with a maximum frame rate of 150 and a minimum frame rate of 27 FPS.

With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in 4K resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti did better on the 9700K again. The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 49 FPS in 4K on the 9700K and 47 FPS on the 9900K. The minimums were very close with a minimum on the 9900K system of 21 FPS and 22 FPS on the 9700K system. The max frame rate on the 9900K system was 144 FPS, much higher than the max frame rate of 122 on the 9700K system.

Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is an action role-playing first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. It is the sequel to 2012’s Borderlands 2, and the fourth main entry in the Borderlands series. Borderlands 3 was released on 13 September 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on 30 October 2019 for Apple macOS.

Our Strix 2080 Ti had very similar results on both the 9900K and 9700K systems. The Strix 2080 Ti did slightly better on the 9700K system with an average of 110 frames per second in 1080p. On the 9900K system, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged only 1 FPS behind our other system with an average of 109 FPS.

At 1440p resolution, our 9700K system did even better with an average of 101 frames per second. This was 5 FPS higher than the 96 frames per second the Strix 2080 Ti averaged on our 9900K system.

In 4K resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 58 frames per second on our 9700K system and 54 frames per second on our 9900K system.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is an action role-playing game with first-person shooter and stealth mechanics that released in 2016. Set two years after Human Revolution in 2029, the world is divided between normal humans and those with advanced, controversial artificial organs called augmentations. You take up the role of Adam Jensen, a double agent for the hacker group Juggernaut Collective, who are equipped with the latest and most advanced augmentation technology. This game is beautiful and still very demanding on your system. The section benchmarked was near the beginning of the game, after the tutorial.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is still a rather intensive game, even though its a few years old now. You’ll start to see a trend here now as yet again, our Strix 2080 Ti did better paired with the i9 9700K. With the 9700K, our Strix 2080 Ti averaged 128 frames per second. Paired with the i9-9900K, our Strix 2080 Ti averaged 118 frames per second. A full 10 frames per second slower than when paired with the 9700K.

The results for Deus Ex: mankind divided in 1440p were very close to the 1080p results in the fact the Strix 2080 Ti did better again pair with the 9700K. The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 93 FPS paired with the 9700K and 86 FPS paired with the 9900K.

Even with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided being nearly four years old, even a 2080 Ti couldn’t average 60 FPS in 4K. On the 9700K, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 53 FPS and with the 9900K, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 49 FPS. Still very playable and with some tweaks to the settings, you could average over 60 in 4K as we teat all games on their max presets.

Far Cry New Dawn

Far Cry New Dawn is a 2019 first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game is a spin-off of the Far Cry series and a narrative sequel to Far Cry 5. As a result, it features many pre-existing gameplay elements from the series, including a large open world, capturing outposts, and AI or co-op companions; but also introduces several elements from RPG gameplay, including an upgradeable home base and increased reliance of crafting from limited supplies.

The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 103 FPS paired with the 9700K. When paired with the 9900K, the average frames per second dropped to 83.

The Strix 2080 Ti achieved an average FPS on Far Cry New Dawn in 1440p on the 9700K system was 76 FPS to 62 FPS average on the 9900K system.

There was a pretty large gap between the 9700K system and the 9900K system in Far Cry New Dawn at 4K resolution. I retested this game three additional times. Each time getting similar results. I generally do three runs and average out the three. For Far Cry New Dawn, I did six runs in 4K resolution and took an average of the six runs. The 9700K system averaged 58 FPS and the 9900K system averaged only 31 FPS. This was with the same card and the same memory installed in the system.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a tactical shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Paris and published by Ubisoft. It was released worldwide on March 7, 2017, as the tenth installment in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise and is the first game in the Ghost Recon series to feature an open world environment. The game moves away from the futuristic setting introduced in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and instead features a setting similar to the original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon with the game world including a wide variety of environments such as mountains, forests, deserts, and salt flats.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is another game that is rather graphically intensive. In 1080p resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 81 frames per second on our 9700K system. On the 9900K system, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 70 frames per second.

In 1440p resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti had better minimum, maximum and average frames per second on the 9700K system. The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 65 frames per second on the 9700K system and 57 frames per second on the 9900K system.

In Ghost Recon: Wildlands at 4K resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 43 frames per second on the 9700K system and 35 frames per second on the 9900K system.

Hitman 2

Hitman 2 is a stealth video game developed by IO Interactive and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is the seventh major installment in the Hitman video game series and is the sequel to the 2016 game Hitman. The game was released on 13 November 2018 and was met with generally positive reviews, with critics considering it to be an improvement over its predecessor.

The benchmark results for Hitman 2 were kind of all over the place. Some runs giving a max frame rate of six hundred plus. This is why you see max frame rates of three to four hundred. However, the averages always seemed to end up around the same for each run. In 1080p resolution, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 133 FPs on our 9700K system and 101 FPS on our 9700K system.

With Hitman 2, the Strix 2080 Ti did far better on our 9700K system. The Strix 2080 Ti averaged 96 frames per second on our 9700K system. On the 9900K system, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged 68 frames per second in Hitman 2 at 1440p resolution.

In 4K on Hitman 2, the Strix 2080 Ti averaged only 34 frames per second on our 9900K system. On the 9700K system, our Strix 2080 Ti averaged 67 frames per second, nearly double the frame rates.
